Become a Chaplain

Sierra Chaplaincy is a team of dedicated, specially trained first responder chaplains. We are a faith-based, Christian ministry with chaplains from all walks of life who provide psychological and spiritual first aid to those in crisis. We serve anyone in need regardless of faith, lack of faith, gender, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. All are welcome to ask for a trained, compassionate, non-judgmental chaplain for assistance in times of tragedy and crisis.

If you are considering becoming a Chaplain with Sierra Chaplaincy, here is what you need to know:

  • We are a Christian faith-based organization with a secular purpose.
  • You must be an active participant in a local church and have the endorsement of your clergy to serve as a Chaplain.
  • We serve the entire community regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, or religious affiliation.
  • You will be required to complete an application, and your references will be checked.
  • There is an extensive background process to become a Chaplain that may include a review of your social media presence.
  • Every candidate will be interviewed to determine their suitability for the Chaplaincy and the most effective position within the Chaplaincy.
  • We have an extensive training program that may last for several months. Successful completion of both classroom and field training is required prior to full service.
